Z-SUITE 1.7.2 is Ready to Download!

We can all agree that Zortrax is about reliability. That is why we’ve decided to improve the Plug&Play experience even further. Let us fill you in with the details of the latest Z-SUITE 1.7.2 update.

It was achieved by optimizing the top layers algorithm and, as a result, we were able to eliminate the “pillowing effect”, which is well-known all over the 3D printing world.

This effect is visible on top layers in the form of bumps or even holes. In order to avoid them, the top surface of your model has to be thick enough to be properly closed. The model needs to have the appropriate amount of top layers – the lower layer thickness settings are, the more top layers are needed.

The photos show models that have been printed using lower infills, with which the problem occurs most often.

Top layers have been greatly improved and, as it was mentioned before, the pillowing is no longer an issue. There is no need to look for the most suitable amount of top layers anymore. From now on, it’s done by Z-SUITE.

And if that’s not enough, printing thin walls has also been greatly improved. We have received feedback about shortage of materials in specific areas of the model and we’ve managed to fix it, so it shouldn’t be a problem any more.

Last but not least, we’ve listened to the community and we’ve decided to bring back the bottom layers amount modifier. The recommended value is going to be set as default but you’ll be able to add/remove a few layers in order to make the base of your model thicker or thinner, depending on its purpose.
